Brothers Dubé “ARTivists can Shine” school performances are being delivered through the Shine Foundation (charity # 851730572RR0001) for at risk youth, educating, inspiring, and empowering young people everywhere to be passionate about their talents and use them to contribute to their communities in positive ways. We have delivered 10 of them, and they successfully engaged kids to get involved and raise money for charity through art.
To finance our school shows, we look to sponsors to support our work because, being so young, we do not qualify for ANY form of grants (municipal, provincial, federal) as either artists or social activists. We are also too young to enter large “battle of the band” contests, or bars as most house policies forbid minors (even though it’s legal). Bars (under age venues) cost a significant amount of money because venue owners do not stand to make much from alcohol sales. Finally, we’d sell our music equipment, but we gave away all we had extra to the Haiti Music School. Although we have raised over $150,000, 100% of that money was money was donated to charity, and we paid the cost of raising the money with merchandise sales, of which proceeds also went to charity. We want to continue our work both as activists and as a band, however we need to fund the following projects;
- Haiti visit to complete our documentary for the Artivist’s Shine School Shows we are giving; costs include airfare, meals and accommodations, local travel, donations for the Haiti School of Music, production costs.
- The delivery of Local, National and International (Canada, United States, Ireland, England, and Haiti) Artivist’s Shine School Shows events for at risk youth; cost of purchase of a PA system (we currently have to rent one per performance), additional music equipment, a modest RV/tour bus (we often travel over 20 hours for a single performance and want to be able to continue to do this), travel costs, meals and accomodations.
- Completion of our second album which includes, production, manufacturing and promotional costs
- Ongoing development of our own musical expertise, music lessons and access to mentors to improve our ability to write and perform live music
If you are a potential sponsor considering the opportunity to sponsor our band’s unique work either through cash donations, video production assistance, a tour bus or music equipment, please contact us at brothersdube@gmail.com or click the link above.
