2 The Brothers Dube “ARTIVISTS CAN SHINE” School Event

The Brothers Dubé “Artivist’s Can Shine” School Show is a school event we give to inspire other kids to use their passion to change the world… we do it by sharing our story, and the story of kids who need help through a musical performance. The kids that have seen it tell us they were pretty moved by it, and the schools we played at got involved and helped other kids who needed it… we do it in french and english, in Canada and the US, and it’s even been endorsed by the Prime Minister of Canada. We basically use the power of ART to change the world and show others how they can do it too… that’s why we call it ART-IVISM!!!!  Check it out and if you want us to bring a Brothers Dube “Artivist’s Can Shine” School Show to YOUR school, just let us know at brothersdube@gmail.com, or maybe we can just busk your school outside on a friday afternoon.

When we play in the street people are always blown away by our show and the fact that we’ve raised over $150,000 for charity by playing music in the streets… they always ask “HOW DID YOU DO THIS?” and we try and tell them, “it’s easy, just go out there and START, and KEEP DOING whatever you LOVE”. We suddenly realized “hey, let’s just tell other kids how we did it, and show them what’s possible if THEY decide to follow their passion too”… so we created a workshop that we deliver in schools with the power (and we mean POWER!) of music… this is just a quick video we made to explain it to you, but if you check it out, you can see what it’s about… getting kids all over the world to do what they LOVE and change the world while doing it!

Sharing our story with other kids meant going to Haiti, to talk to kids there and find out what their lives are like, and what their challenges are…  so we went there and filmed it all, and made a video to share “a day in the life of a Haitian child” with other kids here in schools. We also shared our own story, how we got involved, how easy it is once you just overcome your fear and shared it all through a music performance…

We call what we do ARTIVISM, it’s when you use ART, or your talent, passion and creativity, to change the world in a positive way… we think kids don’t do it enough because adults don’t take kids seriously… here’s a simple video we made to share our workshop with you… and if you want, we can bring it to your school!
